Great news for employers and skilled professionals in the automotive repair and maintenance sector!

As of 7 April 2025, the Irish Government has rolled out new measures to ease skills shortages and support the growing demand in the transport and vehicle services industries.

Under the Employment Permits (Amendment) (No. 3) Regulations 2025 (SI No. 119/2025), three key employment permit quotas have now been expanded — opening doors for more skilled workers to join the sector and for businesses to hire the talent they urgently need.

Car & Motor Mechanics, Auto Electricians, and Vehicle Technicians
200 additional permits added to the quota

HGV & Bus Mechanics
200 more permits approved

Vehicle Body Builders & Body Shop Panel Beaters
50 extra permits granted
